Many times the text is not read because the code is driving focus to a link that comes after the text. Using a newer screen reader as well as learning some of the screen reader commands like jump to top or paragraph are options a disabled user will know and use.

Hello Andrew,
I saw your post regarding accessibility of jquery modal popup box. I am evaluating this for my website but I want to make sure it’s section 508 compliant. I have seen this feature used on HHS.gov website when they redirect to third-party website such as facebook. So I thought it must be 508 compliant. I tried screen reader to go through the page and tried the facebook link. The modal popup opens but the screen reader only reads one of the button. It skips the text on the popup. Here is the link:

You’re exactly right, using the .htaccess in this way is an excellent fix and makes a lot more sense. I had been trying to get the [NC] approach to work, but for some reason I could never get it right.

The best solution that I’ve come across for this is Kevin Thompson’s. http://kevinthompson.info/blog/completely-remove-index-php-from-expressionengine-urls/

It works with both CodeIgniter and Fuel. There is only one more thing I would add to this and you can see it here: http://scrp.at/LG

Put in on ScrapYrd because this form would likely filter bits of it out.

With that added this is the perfect rewrite your URLs for SEO. Well, at least, I think it is…

I had the same problem. MySQL complained about wrong frm files. I found out, it was for some tables innodb was used. In my case moving the log files didn’t help.

I found out that my tmp directory wasn’t writable. Changing that allowed innodb to load.

Actually, it’s not that it’s stupid, as MySQL will generate new files. Something in the files has been incorrectly applied (EOF in wrong place?) . So while I’m not going to outline what really happened to the files, the logs will be regenerated and your system will still work.
